Hellgate London: New Interview + Screenshots

Something tells me if Blizzard had it their way, Diablo III would be something similar to what their former VP of Blizzard North, Bill Roper, has cooking at his new Flagship Studios. Roper pretty much invented the hack n’ slash genre as the producer of both Diablo and Diablo II. So it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that Flagship’s debut game shares a lot of similarities with it’s Diablo cousins.

But while similar in some ways, Roper’s newest game is also a departure from the hack n’ slash style he helped pioneer - which has left some people asking what type of game exactly is Hellgate? Role playing? FPS? Or is there even a specific genre to stick it in? Game Videos recently sat down with Roper to discuss these, and other questions about Hellgate.

Hellgate comes out this fall on Halloween - which, after thumbing through these screenshots, seems like an appropriate date for a game where you enter a gateway to Hell and blow the faces of demons, zombies, and other creatures. I’m just wondering if there’s going to be a cow level.
