Nintendo launched the Super Smash Bros. Brawl site today - well, part of it anyway. The site is far from complete, with only a few sections live and other’s grayed out. In case you’ve never played Smash Bros., they’ve put up a mini FAQ about the game. Seriously though, if you’ve never played Smash Bros. you deserve a slap for missing one of the funnest fighting series on a console to date.
Probably the biggest surprise is the music section. Masahiro Sakurai posted a list of over 35 composers who will be writing music for the game - which is a bit strange considering you don’t often think of a fighting game in terms of an epic musical score. Or maybe you do, and I’m the weird one. Either way, here’s a brief list of a few of the composers that stood out:
- Yuzo Koshiro (ANCIENT) ActRaiser / Street of Rage
- Yoko Shimomura Kingdom Hearts series
- Toru Minegishi (Nintendo) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Yasunori Mitsuda (PROCYON STUDIO CO., LTD.) CHRONO TRIGGER / XENOGEARS
- Takahiro Nishi(GAME ARTS Co.,Ltd.) GRANDIA series/PROJECT SYLPHEED
- Noriyuki Iwadare GRANDIA series
- Masato Kouda Monster Hunter / Devil May Cry
- Koji Kondo (Nintendo) Super Mario Bros. series /The Legend of Zelda series
- Kazumi Totaka (Nintendo) Animal Crossing series /Yoshi series
- Akihiro Honda(Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.) Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots /Metal Gear Solid Portable OPS
Another thing mentioned was how some of the game stages will undergo changes during battle. The stage “Battlefield” is shown to have a day/night cycle built in, so that you can fight through the night all the way till dawn, and back again. You can see examples of the different cycles below:
