Sony made some big claims about the Cell processor back during the pre-launch phase of the PS3. According to Sony, their new processor could do almost anything, just short of curing cancer. Now that the PS3 has been out for a few months, we’re all still waiting to see what the PS3 is really capable of. Free Radical, the same people who made Timesplitters for the PS2, may finally have a game that backs up Sony’s bragging - Haze.
PSU sent us an article comparing screenshots of Haze and Crysis. I can’t say that Haze looks as good as Crysis, but it comes pretty damn close. Not bad for a game that seemingly came out of nowhere compared to Crysis, the game most people are calling the best looking game ever.
What’s especially surprising about the graphics is that this is really a first generation game for the PS3. Everyone knows that as time goes on, and developers figure out how to suck all the power they can from a console, the games look much better toward the end of a console’s life cycle. It definitely proves that the PS3 is capable of dishing out games equal to Gears of War and Halo 3.

Crysis rapes Haze! ![]()
Kevin Says:Well, I won’t argue with the fact that Crysis looks better, but I think Haze makes a pretty impressive display for the PS3’s power. The biggest difference I can see is the small details - leaves, grass, trees … mostly the environmental touches.
I would like to see HAZE in action.
