    Wii Lightsaber This Autumn
LucasArts hints Star Wars fans’ motion control dreams set to come true this year.
    by Rob Burman, IGN UK

UK, June 28, 2007 - When the Wii’s motion-sensing controller was first revealed, everyone pondered how cool it would be to wave a Wii-Lightsaber around - probably while going “zwwoooom, zwooom, kzzzzzzzk”. Now, it seems that dream is set to become reality this autumn.

Speaking at the Hollywood & Games Summit panel yesterday, LucasArts’ Jim Ward tackled the tricky subject of what would it take to have a game that used the Wiimote as a Lightsaber, following a question raised by Newsweek’s N’Gai Croal.

“We’re all over that,” said Ward, “and internally we have already played a lightsaber game on the Wii. It’s a lot of fun, and we’ll get there.” He then added that the concept of Wiimote control was already in place in a game and “there’ll be some stuff out this autumn - it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

It’s possible Ward was referring to the Wii version of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Trilogy, which is set for release later this year. LucasArts has previously stated that its Wii controls “result in the most interactive LEGO Star Wars gaming experience yet.” Here’s hoping E3 brings firmer details.
