A Must See: The King of Kong

Over the weekend, I ventured over to a small local theater - the hole in the wall kind that actually shows smaller, independent films, and watched “The King of Kong”. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a documentary about two gamers competing for the all-time high score in Donkey Kong.

Let me tell you, as a gamer, even I was amazed at the culture of some of the old school types - the guys still popping quarters in games like Pac Man, Joust, and Centipede. It’s a fascinating look at nerd culture, and the history of video games. By the end of the movie, I was really rooting for my favorite guy to beat the other one.

It’s a bit hard to find (I had to call three or four theaters before I found one who was showing it), but it’s worth the effort … you gotta see this movie. You’ll laugh, maybe even cry. Either way, you’ll enjoy it the entire way through.

Yes! This is easily one of the best movies to come out this year. Entertaining, surprisingly touching, and friggin hilarious. Everyone should see this movie.
