Blizzard: StarCraft II is The Best Work We’ve Ever Done

In case you are unaware, Blizzard recently began producing a monthly Podcast. In this month’s episode, they talked in length with Chris Metzen, Vice President of Creative Development at Blizzard. Amongst a number of topics, Chris discussed the development of StarCraft II.
Aside from telling us that Kerrigan, The Queen of Blades, originally started out as a joke throw-away character based on Nancy Kerrigan (the ice skater), he went on to make a pretty bold statement - one that will have StarCraft fans frothing at the mouth. The game was so big, it demanded a tremendous amount of mind-share from us all. Even though other games were in development at the time. Certainly StarCraft II.

It’s got a lot of heart, it’s got a lot of depth, and, on top of it, it’s just a rip-roaring wargame. It’s badass. It’s been very, very rewarding to see this thing take shape. Just getting back to that Blizzard of yesteryear where it’s not all about WoW don’t get me wrong, I love WoW! But we’re so much more than that and I think the world will see, when we pop with this thing that we haven’t been idle.
Considering the absurdly long list of A+ titles on Blizzard’s roster, that is quite the claim indeed. But no pressure …
